Juta – Abudelauri Lakes – Roshka
This is one of the best hikes in Georgia for those who wish to combine gorgeous natural scenery with a fair bit of mysterious and magical history of Khevsureti (iconic mountain region). This moderate 18 km. trek takes us on an absolutely breathtaking journey from the tiny village Juta (2200 masl) to the Chaukhi Mountains and colorful lakes of Abudelauri. Chaukhi Mountains, known as Georgia’s Dolomites, are very popular among the mountaineers and rock climbers from all over the world. They are coming to investigate and climb technical routes (3A, 4A grade) to provide themselves a great mountaineering holidays.
We can establish our camp site here and enjoy with the exceptionally beautiful peaks rising to 3820 m. and surrounded by nice grassy hills (We also can stay at night in a hostel near the village Juta).
Next day we will climb the Chaukhi Pass (3300 masl) accompanied with unique rock formations, playful streams and waterfalls. Once we arrive at the pass, we’ll soon see why this is one of the best hikes in Georgia as all our efforts will be well rewarded by the jaw-dropping beauty around us here. We will then find ourselves gazing upon the pristinely amazing and colorful (blue, green and milkish) lakes of Abudelauri, surrounded with the rocky mountains from three sides, that makes the scene even more spectacular. That is well worth a stop to relaxing and perhaps even for a perfect little picnic before ending our trek to the Roshka village.
It is possible to start this trek from Roshka and finish to Juta village.
